"Get up from the farmGo to the bank" What do we need to live? What do we work for? What do we really want?masayoshi_Matsukata.jpg It is money.
No matter how much we despise money and the egoistic ideals that capitalism has brought into the world, weu simply can't ignore money. And in a time when Japan desperately needed money, when we were losing focus in life and the motivation to live on due to the lack of money, Matsukata stepped in. Because of his timely appearance into the political field and the our lives, he reversed a crisis with good leadership, sincerity and intelligence.

Our slogan:
The words in red, the surrounding in black, this slogan has a lot of meaning, including its appearance. The black representing darkness and the utter hopelessness of the situation, while the
red represents blood and life. For the Japanese, it was during the troubled times that Matsukata appeared and reformed the country's economy. When people were dying in the streets, it was Matsukata that infused life into the lifeless bodies.
It clearly portrays Matsukata's ideals of financial freedom: in the macro scale, it refers to the reform that strengthened the Japanese economy and changed the standard of living among the Japanese population.

His Ideas and Policies:
As a financial policy maker, Matsukata sought to emulate the Western system of banking and finance (ex. Belgium) in order to bring Japan up to the golden standard of economy.
"Matsukata Deflation"--one of the most famous policies that he had made in Japan; in times when Japan was suffering a huge inflation, Matsukata introduced this policy (a policy of fiscal restraint) to bring stability to the country' economy and stop inflation. Although it took a period of time, this policy was definitely successful, earning the label "financial austerity."

His Experience & Achievement:
His whole political life involved with finance--as a Taifu of Finance, financial minister, Ministry of Finance official--he was and proved to be the suitable candidate for protecting Japan economically from the Western powers. Having founded the largest bank in Japan,
Bank of Japan, he had indeed achieved almost every aspect that any financial minister or economist can do for his/ her country.
He was named an
Honorary Knight Grand Cross of Order of St. Michael and St. George.
